James D. Gormley III. - 78

DeKalb, IL - James D. Gormley III. age 78 of DeKalb, IL, died on Saturday March 10, 2012 in his residence in DeKalb. Born on June 17, 1933 in Sycamore, IL, he was the son of James D. and Margaret (Condon) Gormley II., and later in Jim’s life Joe Schulte.

Jim was married to the former Margaret L. Schiesser on December 28, 1963 in St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb; she preceded him in death on December 16, 2006. Jim had worked for Long’s Bus Company in DeKalb, he was a truck driver, sold campers and boats, and then finally worked at Cortland and DeKalb Forge. He lived all his life in the DeKalb community and he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Jim was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb, the DeKalb V.F.W., the American Legion #66 and he loved eating at the Junction Restaurant and DeKalb Moose once a month. He graduated from DeKalb Township High School class of 1951.

Survivors include: children: Margaret (Ron Grutter) Gormley of DeKalb, Rita (Scott) Anderson of Paw Paw, MI, Jim (Mary Pennel) Gormley of Monona, WI, Joe E. (Linda Liu) Gormley of Louisville, KY, grandchildren: Quinton and Mara Anderson, Katherine Pennel, James Gormley, and Whitney Gormley and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents, step-father: Joe Schulte, and an infant son: David M. Gormley.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday March 17, 2012 at 10:30 am in the St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb with Father Kenneth Anderson officiating. Burial with full military honors will be conducted by the DeKalb American Legion, V.F.W., and AM Vets in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be held on Friday March 16, 2012 at 4:00pm till 8:00pm with a Wake Service at 7:30pm in the funeral home.
