Richard “Mike” M. Boone age 56 of Lehigh Acres, FL, went to be with his lord on June 25, 2010 in the Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Lehigh Acres, FL. Born on June 13, 1954 in DeKalb, IL, he was the son of James E. and Artie (Beavers) Boone.
He graduated from DeKalb High School class of 1972. On his 18th birthday on June 13, 1972, Mike went to work for Barber Greene/Caterpillar/AGCO, working in the assembly line, and the machine shipping department for thirty one years until their closing in 2003. Mike served as union president of IAM Local #930 for many years. Mike then moved to Lehigh Acres, FL, in 2005, where he became the manager of Rent-A- Center in Lehigh Acres. He then later went to work at Winn-Dixie, in their customer service department. Mike was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb, and the DeKalb Moose #586. He was a regular volunteer at Corn Fest. He loved casinos, camping, fishing, Chicago Bears, and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. Mike was a people person, and was known by his peers as a very likable guy. While living in Florida, Mike enjoyed his beach strolls, and the warm Florida sun. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his family and friends.
Survivors include: sons: Brandon (Laura) Boone of OH, Brent (Jill) Boone of WI, Bryan Boone of Naperville, 7 grandchildren, sister: Judy Prideaux her friend (Bob Donoho) of DeKalb, brother: James L. (Janice) Boone of DeKalb, special friend: Barb Emanuel and her family of Lehigh Acres, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents.
Private burial will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery DeKalb with Father Kenneth Anderson officiating.
