Jeanette M. Polans age 92 of DeKalb, IL, and formerly of Portland, OR, died on Monday June 7, 2010 in the DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb, IL. She was born on January 28, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York, and was the daughter of Oscar and Yetta (Feldman) Weinreich.
Jeanette was married to the late Jack Polans on September 5, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York; he preceded her in death on December 17, 2002.
Jeanette worked for Barry L. Miller Engineering Company as their Personnel Manager for 20 years, and before that she was a Statistical Clerk for the United States Army from 1943 to 1949. She has lived in the DeKalb community for the past 7 years, moving here from Portland, Oregon. Jeanette graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1935. She then attended Hunter College in New York, New York, and the obtained an Associates degree from Orange Coast Community College in 1977.
Survivors include: sons; Neil (Susan Wong) Polans of DeKalb, Arthur (Myra Schultz) of Madison, WI, grandchildren: Aaron Polans, Elizabeth Polans, Daniel Polans, and James Polans. Preceded in death by: parents, husband: Jack, brother: Jack Weinreich, sister: Cecelia Lutsky.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday June 10, 2010 at 1:00pm in the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
