DeKalb, IL - Donald E. Wildey age 87 of DeKalb, IL, died on Thursday October 22, 2009 in the Pine Acres Rehab. &. Living Center in DeKalb. Born on June 12, 1922 in DeKalb, IL, he was the son of Albert A. and Clara (Fagan) Wildey.

Don was married to the late Antonietta M. ‘Toni” Vittozzi on February 18, 1944 in Naples, Italy, she preceded him in death on April 9, 2009. Don was retired from Northern Illinois University, as a Building Services Supervisor. He had lived most of his life in DeKalb, except for his years in the service when he was in Italy. Don was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, and the DeKalb Lions. He graduated from DeKalb Township High School class of 1940.

Survivors include: sons: Patrick of DeKalb, Daniel of Middleville, MI, daughter: Linda Wildey of San Diego, CA, granddaughters: Christine Wildey Vaughn of AZ, Tiffany Wildey Carter of TX, 7 great-grandchildren, sister: Ruth Foiles of DeKalb, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents, wife: Toni, brothers: Eugene, James, and Albert “Bud” Wildey.

Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday October 28, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb with Father Kenneth Anderson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery DeKalb. Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 27, 2009 at 5:00PM till 7:00PM with a Wake Service at 6:45PM in the funeral home. ..there are more comments for my dad at the DeKalb county, Daily Chronicle newspaper if anyone would like to read more. I will miss my dad but he is much happier now I'm thinking. He just missed my mom so much. They passed away almost back to back, my mom died from complications of cancer, my dad from natural causes during his sleep, aka a broken heart. Now they can be together again in heaven. Linda

Uncle Don will be missed but now he is at peace and can join his beloved wife Toni, my dad Eugene and the rest of his family. Don enjoyed spending time with my dad all the way til the end of his life. My thoughts and prayers are with all his family during this time. Debra Wildey-Sutter
