DeKalb, IL - Lorraine A. Hayes 85, of DeKalb died Saturday September 26, 2009 at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb. She was born October 22, 1923 to William and Loretta (Lux) Harrington in Waukegan, IL.

Lorraine moved to DeKalb in 1935. Graduated from DeKalb High School and married Vincent Hayes September 21, 1947 in DeKalb. She was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed her sons and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Alter & Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters. Lorraine was an election judge for many years and volunteered at the Country Store. She also was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and liked to bowl.

Lorraine was a secretary for James Forster at the John Deere Implement Co. in DeKalb and a secretary at the DeKalb County Courthouse in Sycamore for ten years. Survivors include: husband Vincent, 2 sons Duane and Larry (Wendy) Hayes both of DeKalb; 5 Grandchildren; Matthew, Joseph, Megan, and Luke Hayes and Alex Schultz. And 2 sisters-in-law Evelyn Deutsch and Marywill Hayes. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents and 1 brother and 1 sister.
